New police ‘crackdown’

Police have launched a crackdown on gun and knife violence in the capital's nightspots.

Senior officers said they want the capital to be a "hostile" place for people who carry lethal weapons.

But driving one will attract little or no interest from the Met. The greatest threat to the life and wellbeing of all Londoners – involvement in a motor vehicle crash – is a very low policing priority. The streets of London continue to be crammed with drivers chatting into handheld mobile phones. A police crackdown would net tens of thousands of potential killers. But the Met isn't interested.
